Helpful Information for New Retreatants

Dear King’s House Retreatant:

We are happy to welcome you to King’s House!  We hope that you are spiritually renewed on your first retreat here.  We hope this information will help you arrive prepared so you can easily enter into the Spirit of your retreat.

The atmosphere at King’s House is comfortable and relaxing.  Therefore, casual, comfortable clothing is suggested.  Our facility sits on 47 wooded acres and has several walking paths, stations of the cross, an outdoor labyrinth, devotional areas and beautiful rolling hills to enjoy.  You may want to bring a pair of comfortable walking shoes with you to enjoy the outdoors.

The entire main facility is under one roof, is air conditioned and has an elevator.  All of our rooms are single rooms with private bath with shower.  King’s House provides all bed linens, pillows, blankets and bathroom towels. Bar-soap is supplied, but other personal hygiene products are the responsibility of the retreatant.  You may wish to bring your own alarm clock.

All meals are provided during the retreat. Please notify us in advance of any special medical dietary needs.  There is a microwave and small refrigerator available in the break room for anyone to use.  Snacks (fruit, cookies & pretzels) and drinks (coffee, tea & lemonade) are provided and available 24 hours a day in the break room.  Soda is available at minimal cost.  We do not provide bottled water.

A small gift shop on the premises is open at various times throughout the retreat. (Sorry, we do not currently accept credit or debit cards - just cash or check.)

The atmosphere of a Quiet Retreat requires that everyone present respect the scheduled times and places for silence.  There are designated areas in the building that can be used for social talking at almost any time, and certain meals and times do allow for talking each day.  These will be announced to all at the orientation upon your arrival.  All other times and areas are quiet zones.

We look forward to your arrival, and are happy to be of assistance to you on this special time set apart.  Please let us know of any questions or concerns you may have.
