In his series, Jesus the Forgiving Victim , Alison offers something quite fresh in the field of introductions to faith while embracing a straightforward Christian orthodoxy. What James Alison had in mind was to restore to the Christian life the wonder and transformative power of discovering not some new Biblical fact or church doctrine, but that you are loved far more than you know. James will guide us and challenge us through a week of reflecting on our faith in new way – (probably) not as your Grandma told it to you.
The first 30 Registrations receive a FREE King’s House Zucchetto (to hold on to, of course!)
The week will include conferences, prayer services, daily Eucharist, quiet time, and opportunities for group sharing.
The schedule will begin with registraton at 4:00 p.m. on July 22, followed by orientation and dinner. The retreat will conclude on
James Alison is a British-born priest, theologian and author. He did his theological studies with both the Dominicans (in Oxford) and the Jesuits (in Brazil). James has spent much of his adult life working through the impact of the thought of René Girard on Christian Theology. This has led him to develop a new paradigm, both fresh and orthodox, for Christianity 101, which he has taught all over the world. The basic resource for this is Jesus the Forgiving Victim (available as text and visual image). In addition, James is known for having gently but firmly stood up for the way that basic Christianity obviously includes LGBT folk long before that stance became as mainstream as it is now. James has lived in Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, the US, his native England. He now lives in Madrid, Spain.
