Dear Friends of King’s House

First I want to assure you that you have not been forgotten by us and that you and your loved ones have been in the daily prayers of the Oblate Community and the staff at King’s House.

We regret not being able to open our doors to welcome you back on a retreat. Trust that we too are anxious in welcoming you back. Our house is not a home without you! As of Friday, May 8, 2020, we are at phase 2 of the State of Illinois reopening phases which do not allow us to be open for retreats or services.

All of the May retreats and programs have been cancelled and we have reached out to the affected groups.

Phase 3 of the plan does not allow us to open our doors for retreats or programs but we will get the Retreat House ready and in top shape to welcome you when we eventually reach phase 4.

When we reach phase 4, we will welcome groups for retreats and programs following all State and Diocesan guidelines of social distancing and face coverings as required. Know that from our end, not only will we keep the high standard of cleanliness that you are used to, we will implement extra cleaning and disinfecting procedures to keep you everyone safe and comfortable. We want you to relax and get cozy as you usually would.

Fr. Ron Rolheiser, OMI, will be joining us live via Zoom for his retreat.

Fr. Ron Rolheiser, OMI, is scheduled for the retreat “Spirituality and the Seasons of our Lives” June 19-21, 2020. It seems highly unlikely that we will be able to have a full house as we are used to for this retreat. It seems unlikely we would be at phase 4 by this date. The good news is that this weekend will still happen via Zoom. Fr. Ron will be live through Zoom and will be able to give his conferences and even take questions live from his headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, and you can join this retreat from your own home. We will have information on registering for this virtual retreat very soon.

What a way to kick off a “virtual Retreat” than with our very own Fr. Ron Rolheiser, OMI. We will make registering for this and any other future online retreats as smooth and simple as possible.

We are working on a solution for the first of the Summer Directed Retreat scheduled for June 22-29, 2020.

July looks more promising. Lets us praying for all people affected by the COVID-19 Virus and for all the people working to keep us safe and fed.

I will update you again by May 31, 2020 or sooner if something different were to happen. God bless you and know that Fr. Mark Dean,OMI, and I remember you in our daily prayers and Mass.

Fr. Sal Gonzalez, OMI, Director
