Mary Health of the Sick Pray For Us.
May 28, 2020 Update From Fr. Sal Gonzalez, OMI

Update on COVID-19 Re-Opening Plan. June and July Programs and dates. May 28, 2020 by Fr. Sal Gonzalez, OMI Director of King’s House Retreat and Renewal Center.

Posted by King's House Retreat and Renewal Center on Thursday, May 28, 2020

O Mary,
you always shine on our path
as a sign of salvation and of hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,
who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm.
You, Patroness and Protector of the People of the United States of America,
know what we need,
and we are sure you will provide
so that, as in Cana of Galilee,
we may return to joy and to feasting
after this time of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform to the will of the Father
and to do as we are told by Jesus,
who has taken upon himself our sufferings
and carried our sorrows
to lead us, through the cross,
to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.

Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.  Amen.

New Summer Directed Retreat added for August

Our June Directed Retreat had to cancelled because of the COVID-19 Virus. In June we are not allowed to welcome guest because of the restrictions of phase 3 of the re-opening of businesses in Illinois. We are happy to be part of the solution to this problem and not add to it.

We are currently still planning and prepared to welcome retreatants for the July 6-13 Directed Retreat. There some spaces still available for that week in July.

We have added the week of August 3-10th for a week long Directed Retreat. Most of the much sought after directors are available and ready to welcome you to do your summer retreat with us at King’s House.

There is the opportunity for you to come a quite private retreat during this week for what ever days you wish. If you cannot do the whole week that’s ok we have space to welcome you and we will gladly find a Spiritual Director for you if you wish to have direction during your private retreat.

Give us a call for more information. Let us keep praying for our whole world during this health crisis.

Update On Retreat With Sr. Melanie Svoboda, SND

Sr. Melanie Svoboda, SND will be live via Zoom

Due to the COVID-19 situation and the uncertainty about travel and health restrictions, together in conversation with Sr. Melanie, King’s house has decided to move this retreat to a live retreat via zoom.

Sr. Melanie is looking forward to being live for all of her conference on this week-long retreat scheduled for July 13-19, 2020.

We will soon have a registration page for the retreat. Because the retreat will be live through Zoom, you will be able to join from the comfort of your home. The cost of the retreat is $300.00 for the whole week. This is lower than lodging at King’s House.

This being said, the State of Illinois, has not yet told us when the we will be at phase 4 which will allow us to welcome retreatants back for lodging.

If Illinois enters into phase 4 at the beginning of July, we will be able to host you as usual, while participating via Zoom with Sr. Melanie. It’s our hope that we are able to host some of you at King’s House for the retreat experiences while keeping social distancing and following all rules and regulations to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Thank you for your understanding. We hope to have a second update for this retreat in two weeks. God bless you. Let’s keep praying for all those affected by the COVID-19 Virus.

COVID-19 Update May 8 2020

Dear Friends of King’s House

First I want to assure you that you have not been forgotten by us and that you and your loved ones have been in the daily prayers of the Oblate Community and the staff at King’s House.

We regret not being able to open our doors to welcome you back on a retreat. Trust that we too are anxious in welcoming you back. Our house is not a home without you! As of Friday, May 8, 2020, we are at phase 2 of the State of Illinois reopening phases which do not allow us to be open for retreats or services.

All of the May retreats and programs have been cancelled and we have reached out to the affected groups.

Phase 3 of the plan does not allow us to open our doors for retreats or programs but we will get the Retreat House ready and in top shape to welcome you when we eventually reach phase 4.

When we reach phase 4, we will welcome groups for retreats and programs following all State and Diocesan guidelines of social distancing and face coverings as required. Know that from our end, not only will we keep the high standard of cleanliness that you are used to, we will implement extra cleaning and disinfecting procedures to keep you everyone safe and comfortable. We want you to relax and get cozy as you usually would.

Fr. Ron Rolheiser, OMI, will be joining us live via Zoom for his retreat.

Fr. Ron Rolheiser, OMI, is scheduled for the retreat “Spirituality and the Seasons of our Lives” June 19-21, 2020. It seems highly unlikely that we will be able to have a full house as we are used to for this retreat. It seems unlikely we would be at phase 4 by this date. The good news is that this weekend will still happen via Zoom. Fr. Ron will be live through Zoom and will be able to give his conferences and even take questions live from his headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, and you can join this retreat from your own home. We will have information on registering for this virtual retreat very soon.

What a way to kick off a “virtual Retreat” than with our very own Fr. Ron Rolheiser, OMI. We will make registering for this and any other future online retreats as smooth and simple as possible.

We are working on a solution for the first of the Summer Directed Retreat scheduled for June 22-29, 2020.

July looks more promising. Lets us praying for all people affected by the COVID-19 Virus and for all the people working to keep us safe and fed.

I will update you again by May 31, 2020 or sooner if something different were to happen. God bless you and know that Fr. Mark Dean,OMI, and I remember you in our daily prayers and Mass.

Fr. Sal Gonzalez, OMI, Director
